Add Charming Ornaments and
Sweet Sounds to Your Patio with Windchimes
by Candice Pardue
About Patio Windchimes
Using windchimes on your porch, patio
or deck is a great way to add charm to your decor without
spending a fortune. Windchimes are ornamental and also
create a sweet sound in the wind that gives you a peaceful,
soothing feeling.
Windchimes can be placed on a front porch to greet your
visitors with warm, friendly tones. They can be placed
outside a window for observation. You can also use
windchimes on a back patio or deck, or throughout your
garden decor. Windchimes fit great in almost any
setting and are always a vibrant addition.
Choosing the Right Windchimes
When searching for the right
windchimes ,
look for those that fit with your favorite colors, themes
and the look and feel of your current decor.
There are many different colors and
styles available. Your favorite
theme can be displayed proudly with windchimes.
The top of a windchime might be a metal, ceramic or wooden
design of hummingbirds, frogs, lighthouses, flowers,
different sorts of animals, religious themes, birdhouses,
farm houses, etc. Some windchimes reflect cultural themes
such as the windchime that looks like a dreamcatcher. These
designs might be carved or painted onto the windchime.
Some windchimes are plain at the top with their theme
designs dangling in the wind as the actual chimes.
These types of windchimes might have dangling leaves,
seashells, flowers, butterflies, bells, etc.
Other themes for windchimes that are available on the market
are dragons, gargoyles, stars and planets, sea animals and
rain drops.
Choosing the Right Wind Chime
Sounds
Windchimes make a variety of sounds
based on their frame, material, height and weight.
Metal windchimes are usually going to make a higher pitched,
vibrant sound. Wooden chimes will often have a deep,
hollow sound. Ceramic chimes fall somewhere in
between! You should choose your windchimes according
to the mood and tones you're trying the create for the
area. You might want to achieve different types of
sounds for different areas of the home or yard. The
windchime that sits near your window might be a lower
pitched sound, while the one hanging on your porch or patio
gives a higher pitched sound.
The sound and design are the two key features of
windchimes. You can combine the two and tremendously
enhance your decor with very little spending or
effort. Windchimes add a touch of elegance to any home
or garden decor, while also singing a sweet song in the
wind.
