For a good while now, my wife says "forever", I have been into remodeling my home, but nothing gives me more pleasure than reconstructing my deck.

For example, the materials used in building your deck don't have to exactly match the exterior of your house. But, they should give your home a unified appearance by complementing it in mood and style.

You probably think that decks only come in a few forms, but you are wrong. There are all kinds of deck ideas, from the most traditional to the most outlandish.

Usually, I spend a lot of time brainstorming out in the yard before deciding which deck design ideas to put into action. I have redesigned my deck three times now, and each time I have used different patio ideas.

My favorite deck ideas are the ones that harmonize with the yard. I have lots of trees, providing a combination of sunshine and shade in the summer.

I shy away from traditional deck ideas that looks very square, and instead, implement a more rounded and organic form. I use dark varnish and paints on the railing to make my deck look like it is part of a forest.

Of course, in the past I've used deck ideas that look almost completely opposite from the current one. Since I love having wild, festive parties I decided that my deck ideas should create a jubilant atmosphere.

In the past, I have created some of the most outlandish patio designs that you have ever seen. My back porch was multicolored, shaded by a bamboo screen, and painted with murals! I've never seen anyone use deck ideas like this before. I believe that my deck was truly an original!

Take my advice and don't do anything too much out of the ordinary if you are not experienced in a major home project. Prepare yourself for some pretty hard work with deck ideas.

Start off with an easy deck idea so you won't have to redo the whole deck again like I did the first few times. Then you can stand back and be proud of your diy outdoor project.
