Decorate Your Kitchen for
Spring with Minimal Spending
by Candice Pardue
You're ready for Spring and have
decided to decorate your kitchen to bring in the season.
However, you wish to stay within a minimal budget.
Below you'll find six simple ways to decorate your kitchen
without excess spending. You can brighten your kitchen
for Spring in no time!
If you're like me, the kitchen seems to be the most
difficult room to decorate. Maybe this is due to the
fact that it needs continual cleaning, and decorating gets
put on the back burner. To tackle the kitchen right
away, clean it really well first and remove all lose objects
from the counters, refrigerator, cabinets, etc. While
doing this you can take inventory of what you have available
for decorating or what needs to be thrown out. Include
the kids in your decor project to make it a family
event.
Below are 6 FREE or Inexpensive Ways
to Decorate your Kitchen for Spring:

Kitchen Decor Tip
#1: Use Labels and Stickers
Tear off labels from cans,
boxes and even stickers on fruits, and create
unique designs with the labels and stickers on
construction paper.
A little glue and paper can
go a long way. Your kids might want to
help.

You can create pictures and frame them
to hang around the kitchen. You can also use them to
decorate mini flower pots to sit in the window. Labels
are usually very colorful and have great photos of
food. You can also create your own magnets for
the refrigerator. Check with your local craft store
for inexpensive supplies.
Kitchen Decor Tip #2: Transform
a Cabinet
Pick a cabinet (any cabinet) and turn
it into an open shelf with a brightly colored curtain
covering. It's easy to remove a cabinet door. You can
store the door for later usage. After removing the
cabinet door, hang a curtain on a curtain rod over the
hollow cabinet area. Use this cabinet to store canned
goods or whatever you'd like. It's sort of like having
an open pantry. A decorative curtain will add a touch
of Spring to your kitchen.
Kitchen Decor Tip #3: Add
Baskets
Use small-to-medium sized wire or
wicker baskets to hold your fruits, onions, peppers,
tomatoes, etc. You can find very inexpensive, but
decorative baskets at your local discount stores.
Arrange the baskets decoratively on your counters, bar, and
kitchen table to add color and beauty.
Kitchen Decor Tip #4: Painting
the Kitchen
If you have wood cabinets, painting
might be an option for your kitchen decor. Please take
precaution with painting. Be sure you can finish the
job without making a mess. Once you've started
painting, there's no turning back! Paint is fairly
inexpensive if you do it yourself and
you can choose your own colors.
Kitchen Decor Tip #5: Add Color
with Potholders and Other Accessories
Colorful potholders and hand towels
can come in handy to decorate for Spring as well. You
can purchase these items at local discount stores as
well. If you don't already have them, hang a couple of
small towel racks around your kitchen, and also a potholder
rack to hang up colorful potholders in a neat row.
Kitchen Decor Tip #6:
Inexpensive Kitchen Decor Items
Finally, other inexpensive accessories
that can be used to decorate your kitchen with colors are
burner lids, canisters for storing foods like flour and
sugar, cookie jars and flowers for the kitchen windows.
All of the above decorating methods are affordable and
non-permanent (except maybe painting.) These small
changes can be made at the turn of each season without
spending a fortune. Enjoy your new kitchen decor this
Spring!
