Bathroom tile flooring remodeling project

That old flooring in your bath has seen its best days so you are ready for a DIY weekend remodeling project. Replacing the bathroom floor tile is a good place to start.

Tips for Replacing Bathroom Floor Tile

A perfect weekend DIY remodeling project is to replace that old flooring in the the bath room. You can use tiles, wood or carpet but these tips are about tiling. This is the year that I'm finally going to undertake all of the home improvement projects that I've been meaning to get to but keep putting off.

At the top of my list is replacing the bathroom floor tile, since the ones I currently have are at least two decades old -- and look every bit their age. I won't go into all the gory details about the dirt and mold caked on the grout, but suffice it to say that this isn't something that a little scrubbing would take care of. That's why I've got to replace the whole thing and be done with it.

A Visit to the Home Improvement Store

Anyway, I've been shopping around for bathroom floor tile for the past week or so, and really like what I see. There are many types of products available today, which means I won't be limited to the cheap white stuff that I got stuck with when I moved into the house.

Instead, I can now choose from a whole range of glass, mosaic, porcelain, and ceramic bathroom floor tile in just about every color and design imaginable. I can even buy specially colored tiles that can be used to create a theme, like ocean waves or sun rays. What a fun way to spice up the flooring!

Taking Out Old Bathroom Tile

Once I decide what kind of bathroom floor tile I want to purchase, I can then go about tearing up the old stuff and preparing the space for installation of the upgrade.

The steps I need to take from there will be determined in large part by the type of tiles I end up using, as there are slight variations in the installation process depending on the material. I'll also have to determine whether or not I want to put heating coils under the bathroom floor tile to help keep things nice and toasty in winter. While that will add a bit of time and expense to the overall project, I'm sure I'll appreciate the extra effort when it's below zero outside!

Replacing Bathroom Floor Tile on a Budget

Speaking of costs, I fully plan on purchasing all my new bathroom floor tile online. I know a number of web-based home improvement discount centers that sell everything I need to complete this do-it-yourself project (including tools and instruction manuals) at prices well below what I'd pay at local hardware stores. And we're talking about quality bathroom floor tile from top manufacturers here, not the cut-rate stuff that nobody would want to use, so you can bet I won't be settling for less than the best.

A Weekend DIY Project?

Replacing your bathroom floor tile is certainly not the most glamorous project you can tackle around the house, but it's one that can be done relatively quickly and for a reasonable amount of money. Then once it's done, you can sit back and enjoy it for another 20 years before having to think about getting new flooring in there! Now, that makes it worth every hour of remodeling time.
