Top 10 Online Marketing Tips

Are you getting the online success you deserve? There is a solution and these top 10 online marketing tips will guide you through. Without an effective Internet marketing strategy, no online business can succeed

The definition of marketing is anything you do to get or keep a customer. These 10 online marketing tips will help you to get customers as well as keep them!

How to promote your website

One tip is to give customers a reason to come back again and again by building a mailing list and keeping in touch.

Whether you are selling a product or service on the Internet, the methods you use to market your site will determine your online success.

I hope these 10 tips will help you to succeed!

1. Make the Benefits to Your Customer Easy to Recognize

Your customer’s perception of your company is entirely different than yours. When you determine what product or service you’re going to offer, make sure that it is advantageous to the customer – not just to yourself.

Your customer’s wants and needs come first, your profits come later.

2. Don’t Try to Be Everything to Everybody

It’s sometimes difficult to serve everyone at the same time and be good at it. Be a specialist! The customers will appreciate your company for the helpful and knowledgeable service. Also, customers trust companies more when they specialize in one thing.

This is not to say that you can’t offer related products or services. You can and should offer products or services that are related to your online business.

3. Get Referrals

According to webmetrixgroup.com, word of mouth is the least expensive and most effective way to get new business. You can double or even triple your profits by getting your past customers to refer their friends to you. This is a powerful tool for Internet marketing!

4. Market Your Internet Company Online

There are many avenues you can use to market your company on the net. Take advantage of the e-mail system, newsgroups, link trades, Facebook Quizzes, and search engines. These are profitable, effective, and very inexpensive! The way I achieve this part is with an auto responder mail system.

It’s so much more than a mailing system that I won’t go into it here. To see the marvels of this system which will help you to automate this important phase of your business, learn all you can about mailing lists. You’ll be glad you did.

5. Instead Of Selling, Help Your Customer To Buy

Your profits come from your customers, so help them. When a customer visits your website, help them to buy your product.

Make your website clear and simple. Your product or service that you’re presenting should be valuable, dependable, durable, interesting, and beneficial to the customer.

Make it easy for the customer to purchase the product once the decision is made. Give them an opportunity to fall in love with your site. Building a relationship with your customers will bring them back time and time again.

6. Find Other Companies On Net That Reach The Same Target Customers And Partner Up With Them

You can get together with other companies that sell related products or services and form a joint venture with them. Special promotions involving both your products and theirs can bring great benefits to your customers and your associate’s customers.

You will promote the new product along with yours to your customers (past and present) adding extra value to your site. And, the partner company returns the favor! It’s a great way to generate traffic and everybody wins.

7. Offer A Strong Guarantee

A strong guarantee makes it safe for prospects to give you a try. A customer who is indecisive about your product or service may go ahead and give you a try if there’s no risk. The guarantee will lead many customers “over the edge” when there’s a small doubt about making the purchase.

8. Be Personal

Speak to your customers in 1st person when possible on your Internet site. Make them feel at home. When you do any writing on your site or in promotions, try to write as though you are face to face with your customer. You will gain the trust of your customers and more sales will come your way by giving your site a personal feel.

Make sure your site says; “There is a person on the other end and not a computer.”

9. Create Free Publicity

Make a name for yourself in your industry by finding ways to get publicized. If there is anything you can do on the Internet that is unique and might be considered news, you may get free publicity.

Sending out press releases online and to newspapers and magazines about your Internet site could be very profitable for your Internet business.

If you don’t have the time , you can check with the good people over at Elance or Fivver who will write and/or distribute it for you. Let people know what’s unique about your company.

10. Be Consistent In Your Marketing Techniques

All the Internet marketing avenues you take should have the same focus and look. Your logo or company trademark will become noticed and remembered by customers.

This will establish you as a reputable company. Your business can grow if you will remain consistent.

35 Internet Marketing Mistakes

Beware! Be Sure to Avoid These 35 Internet Marketing Mistakes for Maximum Web Success!

Get Your New Website In Gear – For Sales

After reviewing thousands of web sites over the years, I have come to the conclusion that many business web sites are missing the boat.

For example, I’ve been working on some offline promotions and was searching for a simple targeted mailing list. I searched through about twenty sites and not one of those sites were, what I would consider, professional.

Their standard blue links were enlarged to about a size 16 font, busy backgrounds, flashing images and very unorganized.

  • Did I purchase a mailing list from any of those sites?
  • Absolutely not.
  • Why?

The way I see it, if those companies don’t take pride in their web sites, chances are, they won’t take pride in their products either.

Large linked text and flashing graphics won’t make sales.Your web site is a direct reflection of you and your business.

The appearance of your site is the most important factor in determining your sites value. In other words, if your site doesn’t look professional or pleasing to the eyes at first glance, its perceived value and the value of your products and services will be low.

On the other hand, you may have a great web site before starting out. You’ve developed a well designed and a quality product or service. Lastly (and most importantly) you sent traffic by paying for it or using website marketing techniques.

But, if it takes too long to load, the value will still be perceived as low. Why? Because your potential customer won’t wait. Ultimately costing you business.

What about Your Web Content?

Another consideration of great importance is your content. Not just links, but content with value.

When someone is surfing the net and they visit your web site, they’re visiting for a reason. Your site has something they want.

Whether it is your product, service or information, that’s why they’re there. If they don’t find what they’re looking for, they’ll move on to the next site and so on.

If you want your visitors to stay at your site, provide the quality content they’re looking for in a nicely organized fashion.

Give them a reason to want to explore your site and to continue to visit your site in the future.

The 35 Deadly Website Sins..

After receiving many questions in regard to web site design, I have devised a list of, what I refer to as, “35 Deadly Web Site Sins.

  8. Broken links and graphics
  9. Poor browser compatibility
  10. Large slow loading graphics

  12. Too many graphics
  13. Multiple use of animated graphics
  14. Too many graphic and/or line dividers
  15. Poor organization
  16. Busy, distracting backgrounds
  17. Over use of java
  18. Multiple banners and buttons
  19. Poor use of frames
  20. Confusing
  21. Giant size fonts
  22. Annoying pop up messages
  23. No Meta tags
  24. Poor use of tables
  25. Different backgrounds on each page
  26. Over powering music set to autoplay
  27. Too much advertising
  28. Poor use of mouse over effects

  31. Text difficult to read
  32. Multiple use of different fonts
  33. Under construction signs
  34. Scrolling text in the status bar
  35. Large scrolling text across the page

Is this enough?

Yes, you can most likely think of more things you’ve seen on sites to make you want to click out but just make sure the page isn’t yours!

While you’re looking at this list, take some serious time to really look at your website. Compare it to sites that you feel look professional.

Time your site’s load time — your customers won’t wait. Their time is valuable. The simple, well designed sites that load quickly make the sales.

The speed tester I use is free. It’s by GTmetrix and you can try it here.

If your sales aren’t what you had hoped, take some time to seriously evaluate your site and make some changes before spending your time and money on advertising and marketing. You may be pleasantly surprised.
